There are some two revenue streams that college radio stations rely on.

The first revenue stream that college radio stations rely on is that which comes from their parent college sponsorships. You have to keep it in mind that some of these radio stations, actually majority of these radio stations, are typically affiliated to the faculties that teach things like broadcasting and communication studies in their respective colleges. They therefore tend to get some funding from the colleges, out of awareness for the fact that they are, in actual fact, teaching aids of sorts. Actually, some colleges opt to fund their radio stations in this way entirely: meaning that the college radio stations are entirely dependent on this particular revenue stream.

The second revenue stream that college radio stations rely on is that which comes from advertising. There are many advertisers who endeavor to have their ads run on college radio stations. They do this for a very specific reason. They realize that the college students are people who, after making applications at www.fafsa.ed.gov get some money, in the form of the so-called myedaccount loans, and that is money they can be persuaded to spend through the advertisements in question. This pushes them to pay for advertising spots in college radio stations, if they are given that chance.

There are several ways in which you can get material for radio news bulletins.

The first way in which you can get material for radio news bulletins would be by employing reporters to report events as they happen.

The second way in which you can get material for radio news bulletins would be by signing up with news agencies, from which you can buy news reports to air on your station. There are agencies whose business is that of collecting information, and selling the reports to broadcasters and print media operators.

The third way in which you can get material for radio news bulletins would be by getting the listeners to report events as they observe them. To this end, you may even sign up for a Ymail account at mail.yahoo.com, and then give this address to the listeners, for them to be reporting things through it. This approach does, however, require some verification, because some mischievous people may decide to use this system to report things that are not factual. Still, this user-generated model can work wonders, especially if it is backed up by professional reporting. That would be an arrangement where you get reports from the listeners on where things are happening, and then use such information to know where to send reporters.

There are some four types of news bulletins that are typically aired on radio stations.

The first type of news bulletins that are typically aired on radio stations is that of general news bulletins, typically biased towards political happenings. These tend to be the bulletins of greatest interest to middle aged people (especially the men), who tend to have a lot of interest in political happenings.

The second type of news bulletins that are typically aired on radio stations is that of social news bulletins.

The third type of news bulletins that are typically aired on radio stations that are typically aired on radio stations is that of sports news bulletins. These tend to be the bulletins of greatest interest to the youths, who tend to have considerable interest in sports, thanks to their generally energetic nature.

The fourth type of news bulletins that are typically aired on radio stations is that of business news bulletins. These are typically very closely followed by people like investors. If, for instance, you are a person who engages in trading stocks online through the Etrade platform, you will prefer following the performance of your stocks through such bulletins rather than having to log into Etrade every hour to keep tabs on the performance of the stocks.

There are some three types of ads that radio stations tend to air late at night.

The first type of ads that radio stations tend to air late at night is that of ads for contraceptive products. Since these are meant to be used by adults and not kids, it makes sense to have ads for them run late at night, when the kids are (presumably) asleep.

The second type of ads that radio stations tend to air late at night is that of ads for other products aimed at adults only.

The third type of ads that radio stations tend to air late at night is that of ads for services aimed at adults. Here we may, for instance, have ads for online or phone-based dating services: which are clearly only aimed at adults. At a given point in time, an online dating service provider like Plenty of Fish — which is abbreviated as PoF and about which you can find more details at www.datersinfo.com — may decide to have its ads run on radio, say, within a program designed to offer people dating tips. It would naturally follow that the ads would end up being run at night, because most of such programs (offering dating tips) tend to air late at night, ‘when the kids are asleep.’

There are three major types of radio stations you can set up, as a media investor in today’s world.

The first major type of radio stations you can set up, as a media investor today, would be that of a FM radio station with a national reach.

The second major type of radio station you can set up, as a media investor today, would be that of a FM radio station with a local reach (in a given area).

The third major type of radio station you can set up, as a media investor today, would be that of an Internet-based radio station.

Whatever type of radio station you opt to set up, you will have to deal with the challenge of getting the capital to set it up. To this end, you can use your own savings as capital. You can also borrow. At yet another level, you can sell shares/equity, to finance the venture. At the startup stage, that won’t be as easy as accessing the www.scottrade.com login page, (which is also the sign up page), and using the same to create an account through which you can buy and sell shares. Only well established companies get to sell shares on platforms like Scottrade. So if you are trying to raise capital through selling shares in the initial stages, you will probably have to deal with investors on a one on one basis.

There are several ways in which radio stations try to maximize their ad revenues.

The first way in which radio stations try to maximize their ad revenues is by selling advertising spots aggressively. Some radio stations actually employ full-time salesmen for this.

The second way in which radio stations try to maximize their ad revenues is by lowering the cost of running ads. This can attract clients, especially if the radio stations in question happen to have decent audiences.

The third way in which radio stations try to maximize their ad revenues is by creating more ad spots for their clients.

The fourth way in which radio stations try to maximize their ad revenues is by offering ad preparation services to their clients. Suppose, for instance, that a given radio station wants to get General Motors to advertise its GM card on its airwaves. Such a radio station may offer GM a deal where GM only has to clarify on the message to be passed through the GMcard ad, and then leave the radio station to do things like copywriting on its behalf. This is a good deal, and it is likely to attract any client, thus helping the radio station in question maximize its advertising revenues.

There are several strategies that are used for financing college radio stations.

The first strategy used for financing college radio stations is the one where colleges use their own funds to keep the radio stations running. Keep it in mind that the stations are often used to train students who have interests in things like media studies, communications and broadcasting technology. The fees paid by these students are therefore used to maintain the radio stations, being as they are, training facilities for the respective courses.

The second strategy used for financing college radio stations is the one where the radio stations are financed using advertising revenues. There are many people who are interested in having their ads reach college students. Gadget vendors, clothing and apparel vendors, entertainment equipment vendors and educational materials vendors are in that category. That is also where we find private student loan vendors, who take advantage of the fact that government student loans are hardly adequate (check myedaccount.com,) to sell expensive private loans to students.

Whatever strategy is used, it is worth remembering that maintaining a college radio station is not as costly as one may fear: because for the most part, the stations are housed within the campuses, and manned by volunteer student presenters.

There are some three types of ads you are likely to hear in college radio stations.

The first type of ads you are likely to hear in college radio stations is that of ads for recreational services, placed by recreational establishments located around the colleges. Students are known for their heavy partying lifestyles, and there are always businessmen keen on taking advantage of those.

The second type of ads you are likely to hear in college radio stations is that of ads for items on sale (mostly things like old books), placed by members of the student body. Alongside those, you are likely to hear ads for lost and found items as well ads placed by students who have lost items, pleading with those who may find them to return them.

The third type of ads you are likely to hear in college radio stations is that of ads for student loans. These are typically placed by loan sharks, targeting students who were unable to get enough funding after filling in the free application for federal student aid at www.fafsa.gov or the local college student finance office. The loan sharks in question, typically presenting themselves as fairly respectable financial institutions, are usually willing to lend such students who are in financial distress, but at astronomical interest rates, and typically with hard-to-bear repayment terms.

There are several ways in which radio station operators get to obtain feedback from listeners, about their programs.

The first way in which radio station operators get to obtain feedback from listeners about their programs is through the phone. Many nowadays have (what typically turn out to be quite interesting) call-in sessions, during which listener views on various issues are aired.

The second way in which radio station operators get to obtain feedback from listeners about their programs is through social networking sites, such as Facebook. They tend to have ‘walls’ where listeners can post their views.

The third way in which radio station operators get to obtain feedback from listeners about their programs is through email. Some of the big radio stations have sophisticated email systems purposely set up for collection of feedback from listeners. Upcoming radio stations on the other hand, go as far as using Gmail or Yahoo Mail (whose set up info is to be found at ymailcom.org), specifically on this page or this post, to receive feedback from listeners. Truth be told, the listeners in question tend to be highly opinionated people, who are more focused on getting their views heard out, and who pay sparse attention to the type of email system used.

There are some four things that you need, things that you must have, when recruiting staff for a new radio station.

The first thing that you really need when recruiting staff for a new radio station is a conference room for carrying out the oral interviews.

The second thing that you really need when recruiting staff for a new radio station is a demo station, for carrying out the practical bits of the interviews.

The third thing that you really need, when recruiting staff for a new radio station, is an experienced interview panel. These need to be folks who know what to look for in a potential broadcaster. They also need to be people who are well versed in interview etiquette.

The fourth thing that you really need, when recruiting staff for a new radio station, is a communication channel, through which you can get back to the job candidates. This need not be anything fancy. As a matter of fact, you can simply opt to undertake www.gmail.com sign up which is described at gmailcomlogin.net on this post and get a free email address to contact your job applicants. Courtesy dictates that you get back to both the successful and the unsuccessful applicants.
